THE local McDonalds has cleaned up with two health awards.
The Cirencester restaurant, at Kingsmeadow services, has been awarded a maximum 5-star rating by Cotswold District Council environmental health department in their "Scores on the Doors" initiative. It also received recognition at the annual Loo of the Year Awards.
The environmental health department examined the standards in the kitchen and dining area, and assessed compliance with food safety legislation.
Paul Booth, McDonalds franchisee, said he was extremely proud of the award.
He said: "This is testament to the high quality of training which all of our crew members and managers receive.
‘We prioritise making every aspect of a visit to McDonald’s of the highest possible standard. We believe that everyone deserves clean, safe and well-appointed toilet facilities.
"We ensure that these high standards are across the board, catering for everyone including disabled visitors and parents with small children."
The toilets were judged on a wide range of criteria including signage, décor, fixtures and fittings, air quality as well as overall standards of cleanliness and management.
