20 years for McDonald's in Russia

Russia is celebrating 20 years since McDonald's first opened in the country.

In January 1990, 30,000 Russian's tasted hamburgers and Coca-Cola on McDonald's opening day.

'The queues were around the block when we first opened this restaurant, and it has continued this way. We serve almost two million guests a year here in this restaurant' said McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner.

More than 200 McDonald's outlets are open across Russia, serving more than half a million daily.

McDonald's says it has plans to have nearly 300 outlets in place by the end of the year.

Rival Burger King opened its first store last month.
